What you Need to Know About our Waxing Treatments
Waxing is a hair removal method that involves applying warm wax to the skin and then quickly removing it, pulling out hair from the root. This treatment leaves the skin smooth and hair-free for weeks.
What It Treats
Waxing effectively removes hair from:
-
Face (brows, upper lip, chin)
-
Underarms
-
Legs
-
Bikini area
-
Back and chest
Number of Treatments Required
Waxing should be done every 3 to 6 weeks, depending on hair growth cycles, area and personal preference.
Contra-indications
Waxing is not suitable for:
-
Individuals with active skin infections or conditions
-
Those using certain medications (e.g., Accutane)
Benefits
The benefits of waxing are:
-
Removes hair from the root for longer-lasting smoothness than shaving.
-
Gently removes dead skin cells, leaving skin softer.
-
Hair grows back finer and less dense over time.
-
Works on various hair textures and areas.
-
Our techniques help to prevent ingrown hairs.
Pre-Treatment Protocols
To ensure a smooth, comfortable waxing experience, follow these general guidelines:
-
Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning (including self-tanners) for at least 24–48 hours before waxing. Sunburned or tanned skin is more sensitive to waxing.
-
Gently exfoliate the area to be waxed 24 hours prior to remove dead skin cells and help the wax adhere better. Avoid harsh scrubs right before waxing.
-
Do not apply thick lotions, oils, or heavy creams on the day of waxing, as they can interfere with the wax's effectiveness.
-
Avoid using AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, or other exfoliating products for 3–5 days before waxing, as these can make your skin more sensitive.
-
Hair length matters. The hair should be at least 6mm (about the length of a grain of rice) long for the best results. If your hair is too short, waxing may not be effective.
-
Try not to exercise right before your appointment to minimize sweating and irritation.
-
Come to your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin. Avoid applying deodorants, lotions, or oils to the area.
-
Wear loose clothing. Especially if you're waxing areas like the bikini line or legs, wear loose, comfortable clothing to reduce irritation afterward.
-
Let your therapist know if you have any skin sensitivities, allergies, or if you're using any medication that might affect your skin (like Accutane).
Post Treatment Protocols
Maximise your skinvestment by following these post treatment protocols:
-
Steer clear of hot baths, saunas, and tanning beds for 24-48 hours.
-
Use a gentle cleanser to prevent infection in hair follicles.
-
Start exfoliating 2-3 days after waxing to avoid ingrown hairs.
-
Prevent friction that can irritate the treated area.
-
Keep the skin hydrated but avoid heavily fragranced lotions immediately after waxing.
Additional Information
Regular waxing can lead to finer and sparser hair regrowth. Exfoliating before and moisturizing after can enhance results and minimize irritation.
